The weirdest thing, the part that bothered Kazuma the most, was that it happened right in front of him. They were heading for the locker rooms after a tough win for Tokyo Select, with everyone still a little drunk on victory, cheering and shouting and clapping each other on the backs. Yuto whooped as he came up behind him and Eishi and slung his arms around both their necks, pulling them both down close, and Eishi turned his mouth up to Yuto's ear and said, low and private,
"Go out with me."
With Kazuma right there, just close enough to catch it.
He watched as, inches from his face, Yuto turned to stare at Eishi with wide, round eyes, before breaking out a wide grin and a quick nod, and just like that, all of Kazuma's euphoria dropped out of him completely.
Then Yuto reached up and scrubbed his hand through Kazuma's hair, and the moment was over. The lively atmosphere intruded on his mood once more, and for a time, he almost wondered if he'd imagined it.
He wondered so much, he barely slept that night.
Thinking about it made him want to yell, or punch something, and he couldn't stop thinking about it. He couldn't understand why it bothered him so much. It wasn't because this made them gay, or something- sure, that was weird, but it's not like he would hate them for that. He wasn't that bad a friend.
No, it was the timing. When it came to victory celebrations, Eishi didn't get carried away. Even on a high from a win, he was composed and in control: he wouldn't even think of doing things like buying a lottery ticket, or even spending extra to treat himself, under the influence of feeling invincible.
But Yuto got carried away.
Did Eishi do that on purpose? Would Yuto change his mind after thinking about it more clearly?
